Lab / Teaching Assistant

Job Overview

A Medisend College Laboratory/Teaching Assistant is responsible for assisting with the delivery and assessment of assigned course material and the maintenance and support of laboratory equipment and facilities. A Laboratory/Teaching Assistant also participates in program assessment, academic support services, student project oversight and professional development. 

Responsibilities
  • Assists with provision of instruction as assigned for various elements of Biomedical Engineering Technology courses, including but not limited to medical equipment technology, medical device installation/operation/preventative maintenance, engineering principles, operational safety and performance tests, and troubleshooting and repair of biomedical equipment.
  • Assists with provision of instruction in soft skills expected by the industry, including research for troubleshooting, report writing, presentation and customer communication. 
  • Maintains laboratory equipment, facilities and laboratory supply inventories.
  • Provides laboratory set-up support as needed by all instructors. 
  • Assists with Program Review.
  • Provides academic assistance to students as needed.  
  • Maintains current knowledge and expertise in the field of Biomedical Engineering and pedagogy.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of an AAS in Biomedical Engineering Technology or related field OR a BMET II Certificate. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Strong computer operation and computer networking skills, including proficiency with common office software preferred. 
  • Must be able to work in the United States without Visa support from employer.
  • Verifiable references.
